It’s Not Weak To Speak: Finding Strength !N Sharing

At THE !N CROWD, we believe in the power of connection—and connection begins with conversation.
But for many of us, opening up about how we really feel doesn’t come easily. We’ve been taught, often from a young age, that vulnerability is a weakness. That showing emotion or asking for help somehow makes us “less than.”
We’re here to tell you:
It’s never weak to speak.
In fact, speaking up about your feelings and experiences takes incredible strength. It’s one of the boldest things you can do.

Speaking Up Takes Courage (and Practice)

If the idea of sharing how you feel makes you nervous or uncomfortable, you’re not alone.
Being open and vulnerable is not something we’re often taught—it’s something we have to learn. And like anything new, it takes practice.
If you’re not ready to share with someone else yet, that’s okay. Start small.

  • Speak your thoughts out loud while you’re alone.
  • Record a voice memo on your phone and listen back.
  • Talk to your dog.
  • Stand in front of the mirror and say what’s on your mind.
The more you practice using your voice, the more confident you’ll become. And over time, you’ll find the strength to share with someone you trust.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t need the right words. You just need to start.

Why Speaking Out Matters

When you hold everything inside, it can feel heavy—isolating, even. But when you speak your truth, you release some of that weight. You give yourself the chance to be heard, seen, and understood.
And here’s the thing:
Someone out there wants to listen.
A friend. A family member. A support worker. A peer from our community at THE !N CROWD.
But if you’re not ready to share with someone else, just start by hearing yourself. That first step matters. It builds strength from the inside out.

Be Bold—Speak Up

Speaking up isn’t a sign of weakness.
It’s a sign of courage.
It’s a declaration that you—and your feelings—matter.
At THE !N CROWD, we encourage everyone, especially our men and young people, to embrace the truth that “It’s not weak to speak.” We’re working to break down old stigmas and create spaces where it’s safe to be open, to be real, and to be vulnerable.

Ready to Start?

If you’re feeling stuck, try this:

  • Take a deep breath.
  • Say one thing you’re feeling out loud.
  • Celebrate yourself for doing it.
    That’s where strength begins.

And when you’re ready, reach out. We’re here to listen. We’re here to remind you that you’re not alone. And we’re here to tell you—it’s not weak to speak.
